Dr. Thomas P. Fuller

Dr. Thomas P. Fuller is a Certified Industrial Hygienist with the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. He received his Doctorate of Science from the University of Massachusetts and has a Master of Science in Public Health from The University of North Carolina. He has a Master of Business Administration from Suffolk University. He received his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University in Allied Medical Professions.

Dr. Fuller has over 28 years of experience in environmental health, radiation safety, air quality assessment and control, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, exposure assessment, and public health. He has experience working in academia, biotechnology, labor organizations, health care, manufacturing, and state and local governments.

Dr. Fuller has demonstrated teaching experience as an adjunct faculty member at several New England universities, and has experience in public speaking nationally, and internationally. Dr. Fuller is the current Chair of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Non-Ionizing Radiation Committee.  He is also the Infection Control Team Leader of the AIHA Health Care Working Group and a founding member of the AIHA Pandemic Planning Team.  

For the past several years Dr. Fuller has been leading his own industrial hygiene and occupational health consulting company.  The use of sustainability principles in program development and problem solving set Dr. Fuller apart from other environmental health and safety consultants. He brings innovative solutions and approaches to projects, with a focus on efficiency and corporate environmental fitness.

Anthony P. Gemmellaro

Tony Gemmellaro has over 16 years of experience in emergency response planning, safety compliance inspections, radiation safety, program development, and ergonomics. He also has experience with biological safety, chemical safety, facility safety programs, and training.  He has significant experience in site licensing and permitting activities. He has held positions at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, Alpha-Beta Technology, Muro Pharmaceuticals and St. Joseph’s Hospital. He has also provided consulting services for over 15 different biotechnology companies.

Mr. Gemmellaro is currently the Director of Biological Safety for the Boston Public Health Commission.  His primary roles include enforcing city regulations related to biological safety, and leading internal and external multi-disciplinary teams in biological safety activities. Tony also works as an adjunct faculty at several local universities where he teaches course in Ergonomics, Biosafety Management, Principles of Occupational Health and Safety, Loss Control and Injury Prevention, Chemistry for the Safety Professional, Laboratory Health and Safety, Human Nutrition, Introduction to Biology, and Environmental Issues and Ethics.  

Tony earned a MS degree in biological sciences from the University of Massachusetts – Lowell and a BS degree in biology from Boston University and He has made several presentations at conferences, such as the American Biological Society (ASBA), American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), and the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MBC). He has also contributed to a MBC committee brochure, “Biotechnology Regulatory Guide for Communities.”

 

Mr. Gemmellaro is a Past Co-Chair of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council and Past Chair of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Self Insured Group.  He provides consulting services in the areas of laboratory safety with a focus on program development, permitting, and biological safety.

Evelyn I. Bain

 Evelyn Bain is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Social and Health Services and a Master of Education in Health.  She is a Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist (COHN-S) and a Fellow of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (FAAOHN). 

Evie has more than 30 years working as an Occupational Health Nurse, Program Coordinator, and Health Educator.  She has worked in a variety of industries and she teaches occupational health and safety courses as an adjunct professor at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island.  She is currently an  Associate Director and the coordinator of the Occupational Safety and Health Division at the Massachusetts Nurses Association.

                                                                    

Ms. Bain is authorized as an instructor in OSHA 501 – General Industry 10 and 30 hour Trainer Course.  She has been teaching those OSHA courses since 2003 to a variety of health care providers and staff nurses. 

Evie also conducts lectures and courses on a variety of other topics including; Occupational Health Nursing, Bloodborne Pathogen Policy, Small Business Health Care, Latex Allergy, Workplace Safety,  and Workplace Violence Prevention.  She also provides specialized health and safety audits and consulting to nursing homes and clinics.

Sonya Butler

Sonya graduated from Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemisty in 1999. Since then she has worked in a variety of laboratory positions and settings.  She has worked as a pharmaceutical lab preparation chemist and an analytical R&D chemist in biotechnology.  Over the past four years she has worked as the Laboratory Safety Officer at a large medical and academic complex. Sonya specializes now in laboratory safety audits and reports, and Institutional Biosafety Committee activity support. 

Sonya develops laboratory safety programs and procedures.  She then prepares and conducts associated training sessions on those programs for laboratory staff.  She responds to laboratory incidents and spills and maintains a systems database for tracking and trending those events.

She has received specialized training in Shipment of Biological Material, BSL 3 Containment and Management of Research Facilities.  She has also attended courses on Laboratory Decontamination and Chemical Moves.  Sonya is Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certified in and is HAZMAT certified per OSHA's Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard 29 CFR 1910.120.
